Rookie Challenge
How to Play:
- Entrants must select who they believe will finish as the top four (4) 2024 MLB Home Derby contestants in the correct placement order. The Derby contestant that comes in third place will be determined by who hits the most home runs between the two semifinalists in the semifinals that do not advance to the Derby’s final round.
- Entrants must also submit their predictions for the total number of home runs hit by all eight (8) Derby contestants in the first round of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby.*
-
-
- *Entrant submissions for the total number of home runs hit in the first round of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby will be utilized to determine a scenario in which Entrants end in a tie.
- Entrants must also submit their predicted distance (in feet) of the farthest-hit home run in the first round of the Derby.*

How to Earn Points:
- Entrants will earn one (1) point for each Derby contestant they correctly predict to finish in the top four (4) of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby.
- Entrants will earn one (1) point for predicting the correct order of each contestant’s placement at Derby’s end.
-
-
- For example, correctly submitting the winner of the Derby in the first slot, the Derby runner-up in the second slot, third place in the third slot, and fourth place in the fourth slot would earn a user 4 points.
Determining Tiebreakers:
- Candy Digital will utilize the two tiebreaker questions in the potential scenario that sees Entrants finish in a tie. An Entrant’s tiebreaker score will be calculated based on the combined difference between their answers to the tiebreaker questions and the actual outcome from the Derby.
-
-
- For example, suppose an Entrant predicts 150 as the total number of home runs hit in round one of the Derby, but the actual number is 160. In that case, Candy Digital will subtract the Entrant's prediction from the actual outcome to find the difference. In this case, the difference between the predicted and actual is 10.
-
-
- From there, if an Entrant predicts 420 feet as the farthest-hit home run hit in round one of the Derby, but the actual distance is 421 feet, Candy Digital will subtract the Entrant's prediction from the actual outcome to find the difference. In this case, the difference between the predicted and actual is 1.
-
-
- Both differences will then be combined to produce an Entrant’s tiebreaker score. In the case above, the tiebreaker score is 11. The Entrant with the tiebreaker score closest to zero (0) will be considered the winner.
-
-
- If two or more Entrants are still tied, Candy Digital will randomly select the winner at its sole discretion.
